G&L Double Barrel Clean Boost Pedal

Clean Boost pedals have a variety of uses from the simple "make it louder" to slamming the front end of an amp or stomp-box to bring on more distortion or break up. But as volume goes up, a lot of other things happen: Our ears hear it differently, the frequency response of the amp may change with additional gain, and downstream effect boxes may act differently too. So just adding gain is no guarantee that you'll get the same sound.

This is where the G&L Double Barrel is different. There are two Vari-Boost knobs: The Vari-Lo affects the low end roll off, while the Vari-Hi does the same thing for the high end. This allows the player to effectively control either an overly bright or boomy boosted signal. Setting the Vari-Boost controls set on 3 and it's pretty much a flat full-range signal. Turning the Vari-Boost controls down increases the amount of roll-off. The little quick start booklet gives some very good examples of how to use the pedal. It's very simple, but very effective, making the G&L Double Barrel a very handy addition to any pedal board.
