ValveTrain Tallboy 205 Amplifier

Sporting pine construction, an expertly varnished tweed covering and the finest US-sourced components available, the Tallboy 205 harks back to an era of craftsmanship rarely seen today. The amplifier section is a single-ended class A design using a Tungsol 12AX7 preamp tube, and EH 6v6 power tube and a  NOS 5Y3 rectifier. The wiring is all point-to-point and the transformers are custom made for ValveTrain.

With low and high inputs, just two knobs, and a tube rectifier there is not gobs of clean headroom which is exactly the point: This is an amp that you crank to at least "7" and use your guitar volume to dial in everything from clean to pure power amp distortion. Once you hear what a small amp dimed can do, you'll never look at a master volume control the same way again. The Tallboy is a must-have for any studio, jam session, or it can live happily in your living room without offending the fashion police. Plus it's great for Harmonica players too.
