In contrast to the popular Seagull S6 series, the Coastline Momentum features an all-gloss finish and while they don't specify, it looks to us like Ceard. Like many Seagull acoustics, laminated Cherry is used for the back and sides. Cherry has a bright, crisp response similar to Maple but is less "dry" sounding. The solid wood top combined with the Cherry back and sides creates a very lively Dreadnought that has plenty of high end response to go with the strong long end characteristic of this body shape. While the tone is not a thick and mid-focused as Mahogany or Rosewood Dreadnought would be, there is plenty to like about its high end sparkle and definition.
The Fishman Sonitone electronics on the Maritime are natural sounding, effective and discrete. Not your usual fat, rectangular cutout, the volume and tone controls are placed inside the soundhole for easy access.
