Powering the EC-401 is a set of EMG 60/81 active pickups. These pickups have been around for many years, but they still set the bar for active hard rock pickups. Featuring ceramic magnet construction, they have a broad frequency response, solid attack, and tons of clarity and output. Plus the beauty of active pickups is that the volume and tone controls work evenly throughout the range without out any loss of tone.
The LTD EC-401 breaks no new ground, but its beauty is in its excellent workmanship, fluid playability, and textbook rock-ready tones. There's nothing about the EC-401 that needs upgrading in order to be stage ready, and for rockers of all levels and abilities it's an excellent value.
