Crazy Tube Circuits Triptychon Analog Fuzz Multi-Effect Pedal (BOOST/OCTAVE, FUZZ, DRIVE)

We checked out this pedal at the 2026 NAMM show and have been excited for it ever since. On classic recordings, fuzzes and treble boosters usually hit already cranked amps, creating the compression, sustain, and harmonic richness that define vintage tone. That’s exactly what the Triptychon delivers, plus an upper octave option on the boost. The boost and fuzz sections also feature an anti-buffer switch, so they work well with active pickups or buffered pedals. All three sections can be used on their own, and the optional XT footswitch (or really any CTC XT switch) lets you use the drive control in combination with the other two.

Crazy Tube is onto something with the Triptychon. It goes well beyond the usual two-stage stacked pedal. With the octave/boost set to feed the drive, we got big, chewy rock tones even with the boost kept fairly low. The drive around 1 o’clock and the boost mod engaged added a nice mid push. Kicking in the fuzz for leads took it further with more body, texture, and sustain. There are four fuzz types to choose from, and while we liked the Tone Bender voices best, that’ll depend on your guitar and amp.

You can use each section on its own, but the real magic is in how the Rangemaster-style boost, ’60s-inspired fuzzes, and amp section work together. Unlike other Crazy Tube dual pedals like the Unobtanium or Orama, the Triptychon isn’t based on one specific amp. It’s more open-ended, and while it isn’t cheap, it really feels like three pedals in one that are designed to play together.

The Triptychon uses metal-can silicon transistors and is designed to give you that germanium-style feel without the usual inconsistency or supply issues. It’s all analog, thoughtfully engineered, and another Crazy Tube design that feels destined to become a classic.

Boost / Upper Octave Fuzz: Harmonic Expansion (right panel)

The right panel expands the harmonic range with a dual-voice architecture for each mode.

In boost mode, it delivers two distinct treble booster voices, from classic cutting presence to a fuller, mid-focused response.

In octave mode, it becomes an upper octave fuzz, offering two distinct voices ranging from articulate and defined to saturated and harmonically rich overtones.

Drive: The Amplifier Foundation (left panel)

The left panel completes the system by recreating the feel of a pushed amplifier.

Rather than acting as a typical overdrive, it provides the compression, response, and harmonic environment where fuzzes and boosters truly come alive. It can subtly enhance sustain and clarity or be pushed further to shape the overall gain structure, just like a real amp.
