JAM Pedals Boomster mk2 - Silicon Clean Boost and Stand Alone Buffer pedal

Boost pedals are more than just a box to make things louder, and when it's designed by JAM, you can be sure it's just more than a loud box. With it's 3-position tone switch, and internally selectable buffer, the totally new Boomster Mk2 can be used to boost your volume, tweak your tone, and restore life to your signal path. We really liked how the bottom position of the 3-way toggle gently boosted the mids of the guitar, making it sound fuller but totally natural such that you don't notice unless you turn it off. And being a JAM, you can adjust the response via internal trimmer pots. 

The hardest decision with the Boomster Mk2 is whether to leave it on all the time because you like to way it makes everything sound better or use it as an actual boost. Of course nobody said you needed to have just one.

Although labelled a mk.2 version, the Boomster is a complete redesign, reflecting our future-proof vision of what this genre of devices should deliver and accomplish.

With its musical response and increased headroom the Boomster mk.2 aims to redefine the quality standards of the buffer and booster genres. Extensive testing and comparison sessions with most of the appropriate chips currently in production, resulted in us opting for the hi-fi-grade Burr Brown® OPA 2132 chips, which deliver effortless fidelity and lushness across the Boomster mk.2's different functions.

The musicality of the 3 carefully tuned voicings of the booster and the corresponding internal trimmers allow perfect matching with different setups and uses. Use the toggle switch to select:

• the top position to attenuate the top end (control by how much via set-and-forget internal trimmer)
• the middle position to retain a flat, full-range response
• the bottom position to introduce more mids (control by how much via set-and-forget internal trimmer) which are tuned to work equally great with single coils as well as humbuckers.

Pair the Boomster with any common 10k passive EXP pedal and travel from silence to unity gain when in buffered bypass mode, and from silence to where the Level is set when the Boomster is engaged.

Our goal for the Boomster was for it to also function as a great standalone buffer. During our R&D process we tested most high-end buffers available in the market. We found that many of them would either introduce an artificial, harsh top-end, and/or remove much wanted mids. In working towards addressing the above issues, the buffer we designed not only restores the compromised signal without adding or subtracting frequencies, but also retains the original feel of your instrument.

Where the Boomster is designed to live, is within the workflow of a pedalboard, restoring compromised feel and frequency content as well as musically providing 3 different shades of volume boost.

Add to the above the EXP functionality, and the Boomster is likely to become one's unsung pedalboard hero.
