JAM Pedals Rattler MkII Distortion Bass Pedal

JAM pedals is famous for elevating classic pedal designs and NOS (New Old Stock) components to their highest potential. But with the LM308 chip used in the original Rat and Rattler pedal, sometimes "New Old Stock" becomes "No Old Stock". Enter the new JAM Rattler MkII for bass. For the new Rattler, JAM develop their own discrete component analog Op Amp to replace the famed Motorola LM308. Discrete components means that it's constructed of individual components (resistors, transistors, etc.) rather than a miniaturized integrated circuit (the "chip" seen on the circuit board of many effect pedals). Looking inside you'll notice that the new JAM circuit is a good bit larger than the typical chip (see photos).

While this is a Rattler Bass distortion pedal, it works equally well for guitar, and the enhanced low end voicing and dual stage distortion boost is very appealing to guitar players who are looking for a fatter grind.

And with the MkII Rattler Bass they kept all the greatness of the original version: Its symmetrical clipping takes the overdriven signal and clips the positive and negative wave forms evenly resulting in a smooth, open grind that we know and love as classic distortion. Once you shape your tone and set the level, the gain knob lets you decide just how massive your sound will be. That being said, a crucial feature of this pedal is the wet/dry mix control which is unique in the world of Rat-type pedals. By being able to mix in clean signal with the distorted signal, attack and note definition is retained even when the crunch gets heavy. The Rattler Bass also features a secondary gain stage for sending your crunch levels even higher with the tap of a (clickless) switch.

Thanks to the clever people at JAM, the Rat King of bass pedals lives on to rock your bass world.
