Seymour Duncan Antiquity Strat Texas Hot Retrospec'd Pickup Set - White
The Seymour Duncan Antiquity Strat Texas Hot pickup (un-aged) set is built to give you pure vintage chime, but with a little Texas Hot Sauce thrown in. That Hot Sauce is a hotter wound bridge pickup to cure the typical thin/edgy tone of a vintage bridge pickup. Alnico II magnets are used for a smoother, sweeter top end and they are degaussed (weakened) to give the feel and touch response of a decades-old pickup.
The Antiquity Strat Texas Hot set features staggered magnets, which have their own story: Early electric guitar strings were heavier than they are today and often used a wound third string. 11's and 12's were common, and so were nickel wraps instead of the more common plated steel of today. Staggered magnets were an attempt to improve string-to-string balance, and the magnets are actually different lengths, and not just "pushed" higher or lower. With today's thinner strings, flatter fretboards and more precise manufacturing techniques, staggered magnets are more a nod to history than a necessity. But vintage is vintage....
In the words of Seymour Duncan...
Give your Stratocaster the warm bell like chime normally reserved for priceless vintage instruments. The Antiquity Texas Hot Neck produces that familiar, spanky Stratocaster tone, but with a sweet tonal character that only a decades old vintage Stratocaster pickup can produce. Its treble attack is softened by the specially degaussed alnico 2 rod poles, and we inject just the right amount of smoke, sweat, and grime to give them that perfect grit.
The middle pickup in the set is RW/RP for the perfect hum-free cluck in the 2 and 4 positions. The Antiquity Texas Hot Custom Bridge is wound hotter than the neck & middle versions to give your Stratocaster better overall balance and increased versatility without losing the vintage vibe. The spank and sparkle is all there and the increased output provides just enough midrange to help your tone cut through where traditional Strat bridge pickups fall short. Single notes sound robust and chords are harmonically rich. The custom aged alnico 2 rod magnets create less string pull, and that means more sustain.
Each comes with individually ground alnico 2 rod poles are specifically calibrated to deliver just the right combination of chime and sweetness. Each Antiquity Texas Hot vintage Stratocaster pickup is lacquered and potted in lamp black paraffin wax, like the originals.
