Z G&L Fallout Blonde 2024 Electric Guitar w/Gig Bag *Authorized Dealer*

Sporting Leo Fender's iconic Mustang/Duo-Sonic body style, the G&L Fallout is a guitar that will stand out sonically and visually in your collection. With it's excellent G&L P-90 pickup and humbucker combination, the G&L Fallout gives you an alternative voice in a sea of sameness.

The USA-made G&L Fallout is packed with high quality features and upgrades:

  • Transparent Blonde finish on Swamp Ash, 6.6 pounds
  • G&L Classic C profile - 25.5" scale with 12" fingerboard radius
  • 1-5/8" nut width
  • .835" depth at first fret, .960" at the 12th
  • Maple fretboard
  • Satin vintage tint neck finish
  • G&L split and drilled tuners
  • Medium jumbo frets
  • Bone nut
  • 3-ply tortoiseshell pickguard
  • G&L P-90 neck pickup
  • G&L AW4368C humbucker bridge pickup
  • Hefty G&L Saddle-Lock bridge
  • 3-way pickup switch
  • Volume and tone controls
  • Plek fret finishing
  • Pull tone control to split bridge pickup
  • Delux tolex hardshell case

While Butterscotch Blonde tends to be the more prevalent Blonde finish, we are personal fans of the original Blonde which is much closer to the early Telecaster finishes. It looks great on Swamp Ash, and we also like the way Swamp Ash provides a sweet top end response and a slight midrange scoop. We also opted for G&L's Classic C neck profile, which was standard on G&L guitars up until mid-2015. The extra thickness as you move up the neck gives great palm support and we are firm believers that a little more neck mass helps the low end of the guitar. It's not a baseball bat like a vintage Fender, and it's our own personal preference compared to Fallout's standard Slim C. And for 2024 G&L has brought back Plek laser-guided fret finishing for and extra level of playing consistency.

Developed by Gibson in the late 40's, the P-90 is known for punchy tone and chunky mids. It was standard on the Les Paul and many jazz models up until the introduction of the PAF. Sadly, P-90's get a bad rap for being dark and one-dimensional, but that's more a function of trying to make them "hot". Not a problem here; and with a mid-6K DC resistance G&L's P-90 has both excellent clarity, a smooth top end, and more meat around the notes than Fender-style single coil. Given some overdrive, the P-90 thickens up and takes on a somewhat creamy tone, but without the woody or mushy feel that you sometimes get with a humbucker. We are fans of P-90's, and this particular version deserves a spot in your guitar lineup. It's a great pickup for when you want "more" but without sacrificing detail.

In the bridge is G&L's own AW4368C Chrome covered Alnico Humbucker. If you follow G&L's numbering system, you'll notice that the chrome pickup uses a different gage wire (43) and has slightly fewer turns (6800) than the usual uncovered AW4470 bridge pickup. That's because adding the Chrome cover does impact the magnetic field of the pickup and the larger gage wire (43 is bigger than 44) and fewer turns keeps the pickup from sounding darker than the uncovered version. We like what the cover does, and the AW4368C has a little smoother top and creamier gain profile. And compared to the typical format for a humbucker (shorter scale, set neck) the bolt-on Fallout is not lacking for attack and clarity.

Both pickups together produce the bell-like clean rhythm tones often associated with this combination. The sound is Tele like, but a little fatter with slightly less edge. Percussive and snappy without being fatiguing, it's got a bit of Gretsch or Rickenbacker twang that works well for country, roots rock and lush rhythm strumming. For lighter moments you can pull the tone control for leaner and cleaner split bridge setting that blends well with neck pickup, or by itself it does a credible job for crisp rhythm and picking.

The G&L Fallout gives players a serious alternative to the typical choices for high quality electric guitars. By combining these two famous pickup styles you get a fresh sonic option that gives you an alternative voice in a sea of sameness.
