G&L SC-2 Ltd Edition Old School Tobacco 2024 Electric Guitar w/Gig Bag
The G&L SC-2 is back! The SC-2 "Mustang" shape has a long history at G&L but was dropped from the catalog at the end of 2017, presumably due the popularity of the Fallout. Granted you could get the same MFD pickups in the ASAT Special, but some players loved the clean styling and compact body shape of the SC-2.
We started a discussion with G&L in early August 2024 about testing the waters with a new run of SC-2's, and they were all over it. G&L took this opportunity to re-engineer the SC-2 CNC programs to insure that all the fits and dimensions were spot on. And while the first batch of guitars are DFV (yes, many SC-2 had vibrato) the capability for the saddle lock bridge is also in place. We also opted for the Modern Classic neck profile, as this is far and away G&L's most popular neck profile (At the time it was discontinued the SC-2 was using the Classic C 1-5/8" profile). Lastly, these guitars have Plek laser-guided fret finishing.
We also wanted to bring back the ASAT Super bridge pickup, which was standard in the SC-2 but dropped in the last years of SC-2 production. The Super bridge bumps up the windings to thicken the midrange and slightly soften the top end. It's not significantly higher in output, but fattens up the response for better pedal performance and rock-ability. You give up a little twang, but it makes the SC-2 a better rock guitar. We also have this pickup available separately as an upgrade item.
The 2024 Limited Edition SC-2 is not a Build-to-Order guitar, but different finishes may appear in future runs, along with the Saddle Lock bridge. It's good to have an old friend back, and big thanks to the folks at G&L who helped make it happen. Note: The build sheet says "Slim C" which is an error. We are getting that fixed
