5th Avenue Kingpin P90 Cognac Burst Left-Handed SF - no bag/case

For our left handed friends: Godin 5th Avenue Kingpin P-90 combines the style of old-world arch top guitars with modern playability, electronics, and great price. Constructed of all Canadian Cherry, the Kingpin is bright, lively and brings a fresh new sound that makes this more than just another jazz box. P-90 in a big box rocks!

This is a Godin "SF" product which means a slight cosmetic defect (see photos). These cosmetic imperfections are typically trivial and Godin SF guitars offer a great value, and the full Godin limited lifetime warranty.

Photos are the actual guitar.

Hand crafted in Princeville, Quebec, the Kingpin is solidly built with an emphasis on both functionality and understated elegance and features:

  • Canadian Cherry top back and sides
  • 24.8" scale maple neck with 16" radius Rosewood fingerboard
  • One Godin P90 pickup
  • Godin chrome sealed back tuners
  • Cognac Burst Finish with cream binding
  • Adjustable compensated TUSQ graphite bridge
  • Floating pickguard
  • Schaller strap lock buttons
  • Weighs approx 5 pounds
  • Case not included

We really like the Godin Cognac Burst finish: It shows off the nice Cherry grain pattern and is both elegant and understated. With Cognac Burst being the only finish available on the Kingpin P90, Godin made the right call.

The laminated Cherry body projects a lot of volume with full bass, bright snappy highs and plenty of sustain. The neck pickup is warm with lots of bottom end without being muffled. And because the body is hollow -- not semi-hollow -- you can coax some feedback out of this guitar depending on your proximity to your amp . While obviously not a shred machine, the neck is great for chords and plays well up the neck too. While the factory installed .012 string set may feel a little stiff to the average electric player, those looking for more rock guitar feel could easily throw on a set of .010's or .011's and still get plenty of volume. Flatwound 11's or 12" are just the ticket for Jazzers.

Overall this is bold and lively guitar that has capabilities beyond its conservative looks. While it's perfectly suited to Jazz or more mellow styles of music, the P-90 pickups give it the punch and edge to be a great roots or rockabilly machine. Customers love the Kingpin, and for a reasonable price it will add a whole new dimension to your guitar collection, and give you sound unlike all your other guitars.

We are an authorized Godin dealer and this is a new guitar with all tags, tools, paperwork and certificates. We have a wide selection of Godin-family guitars stock at all times, and please feel free to browse our other listings, or contact us for delivery time and availability on other Godin models.
