The Arena Flame Maple features a pressure-tested solid Spruce top, flame maple back and sides and excellent LR Baggs Element electronics. There is a lot of depth and history to the Godin family of guitars made in the village of La Patrie. The Arena Flame Maple guitars utilize domestically sourced maple, and are finished with a 19th century inspired polish that lets the guitar breath and naturally age into a richer sounding instrument. Their necks are solid mahogany and feature dual function truss rods for adjustment capabilities that today's players demand.

Positioned towards the top of the Arena line, the flame maple top and sides are not only visually striking but give the plenty of projection and volume. While the shallow body depth limits acoustic bass response, the Arena Maple has lots of attack, overtones and a pleasing acoustic richness. We sometimes worry about maple bodied guitars sounding dry and lacking dimension, but we were impressed with the complexity of tone, and find this guitar to be one of the more compelling models in the Arena lineup.

While the LR Baggs Element is strictly an under-saddle system, we found it to have a commendably warm and rich tone. It did not have the typical piezo brightness, and through our GR Acoustic guitar amp required very little tweaking. The system was also very resistant to "squeaky strings" which can happen with an electrified nylon guitar. Overall the detail and articulation of the maple comes through without any high end harshness or excessive string noise. 

Godin has had a big presence in the electro-acoustic nylon market for quite some time, and the Arena series is a very enjoyable hybrid acoustic. It plays like true classical instruments while offering players modern versatility and on-stage practicality.  Staying true to the Godin brand value, the Arena Flame Maple is a high quality instrument for enthusiasts and performers.
