Godin Mahogany Folk Rustic Burst A/E - no bag/case
From our friends in Canada comes the attractive Godin Mahogany Folk Rustic Burst. Since introducing the Godin acoustic brand several years ago (at least in the US the Godin name was reserved for electrics and hybrids) they have steadily expanded the line to include a range of styles and price points. The Mahogany Folk Rustic Burst is one of their most affordable models, and is an excellent value for an all-solid wood guitar. With quality Fishman electronics and Godin’s high level of fit and finish, the Folk Rustic Burst is a capable and comfortable performer.
While Spruce tops are without doubt the most common material for acoustic guitars, Mahogany tops are literally as old as the acoustic guitar itself. Owing to the mid-focused, warmer profile of Mahogany, the Folk Rustic burst has a slightly huskier voice than a typical Spruce top folk guitar. But it is by no means dark sounding, and much like Cedar it sounds "older" and more broken-in right from the start. For what it gives up in sparkle relative to spruce, it's punchy, responsive and tonally balanced. It makes a great strummer, but it's quick attack and throaty midrange response will appeal to blues pickers too. And because it’s all solid wood construction it will only continue to improve with age.
The Godin Folk Rustic Burst has a look and a sound that makes it stand out from the typical offerings in this price range. And for a North American solid wood guitar, it's an excellent and affordable upgrade for players looking to step up to the next level of guitar.
