Godin Stadium Pro Sunset Burst RN w/Deluxe Gig Bag
The Godin Stadium Pro sits at the top of Godin's popular Stadium series of T-Style solid body guitars. Equipped with up-market TV Jones and Lollar pickups, the Stadium Pro offers the flexibility and style that Godin does so well at a very competitive price for a North American-made guitar. The Stadium Pro is a light weight and high quality guitar that easily traverses blues, country, rock and beyond.
The Godin Stadium Pro features
- Sunset Burst finish on Canadian basswood, 7.0 pounds
- 25.5" scale 12" radius maple neck, 1-5/8" nut width
- TV Jones Starwood neck pickup
- Lollar Special T Telecaster bridge pickup
- Godin designed T-Style Ashtray bridge
- Compensated brass saddles
- Master Volume and Tone controls
- 3-way pickup switch
- Schaller strap locks
- Godin padded gig bag
The inspiration behind the Stadium is rather obvious but Godin elevates the platform with a comfortably contoured Basswood body, sculpted neck heel and cut-away ashtray bridge with compensated adjustable brass saddles. The Godin hard rock maple neck is a slim profile with highly polished medium frets. Godin fret finish and fret ends are always top notch, and Godin thoughtfully puts strings trees on the E/B and G/D strings, eliminating the chance of any vibrations behind the nut.
In their higher end models Godin takes advantage of the some of the better known boutique pickup builders. In the neck position the TV Jones Starwood pickup takes the uncovered approach to the Tele conundrum. Well it's actually an open top nickel cover that provides some shielding while the absence of covering over the magnets offers more attack and clarity. According to TV Jones it's patterned after their T-Armond pickup, and it has a lot of Tele characteristics but with more presence and none of the Tele compression that sounds lovely....until the band starts. It nicely straddles the world of Tele roundness with greater usability over a range of styles.
Sitting in the sculpted ashtray bridge is a Lollar Special T bridge pickup. Early Telecaster pickups were derived from Fender pedal steel guitars, and they got progressively brighter with successive iterations (like that was needed?). The Special T is wound to around 8K, which is at the upper end of Tele range, which gives it fuller mids and just enough top end roll-off to temper the traditional Tele brightness. It's plenty twangy but a fuller, richer tone that will also drive pedals better owing to its more generous midrange content. We've always loved Tele bridge pickups and the Special T is our cup of tea.
The Godin formula of value and features is a compelling one, and Godin continues to tweak and evolve the Stadium recipe to provide new twists and benefits. The Stadium Pro is at once traditional but also recognizes that even traditional guitars can't be one-trick ponies. For those willing to step out of the traditional brand-box, the Godin Stadium Pro will reward you handsomely.
