Seagull Maritime SWS CH CW Presys II Concert Hall A/E w/Gig Bag
Seagull is by far the most well-known acoustic brand under the Godin family name. Back in 1982 Robert Godin started building the first Seagull's in La Patrie, Quebec and managed to create a community of artisans focused on creating sustainable, high-quality guitars for hobbyists and working musicians. Fast forward to now: Almost half the village residents are full-time guitar builders and the Godin name boasts several top-notch acoustic/nylon brands, all with their own unique qualities. This Seagull Maritime Concert Hall is a great example of what Seagull does best: Offer high quality workmanship and materials at a very attractive price for a North American-made guitar.

Part of their Solid Wood Series, the Seagull Concert Hall Maritime features some of their highest quality materials. As the name implies, the back and sides are solid mahogany with a nice semi-gloss finish. As a tonewood Mahogany is dense and strong, giving it lots of warmth and midrange emphasis. The comfortable Concert Hall shape focuses the highs and the tighter waist adds more definition and less boom than a dreadnought. The spruce top adds an articulation to single notes and pleasant highs on dense chords. While dreadnought guitars ruled in the days before effective amplification, many have discovered that the more compact Concert Hall shape is easier to hold, and the smaller body and air chamber provides a more responsive attack.
The built-in Fishman Presys II electronics are simple to use and effective. The stealthy black control panel features Volume, Treble, Bass controls, phase, and an onboard tuner. We tested it through our Traynor Studio 60 (another find from Canada) and it performed admirably. The saddle transducer is highly responsive to the natural acoustics while providing ample room for performance ready tone shaping. For the bedroom, studio or the stage, the Seagull Maritime Concert Hall Mahogany is artfully crafted and thoroughly affordable.
