Schecter PT Van Nuys Gloss Natural Ash Electric Guitar - No Bag/Case

The Schecter is PT Van Nuys is a T-shaped guitar aimed at players who want the classic shape and feel of a bolt-on 25.5" scale guitar but with more of  a rock 'n roll attitude. Featuring a classy Ash body, roasted maple neck and twin humbucking pickups, the PT Van Nuys brings punch and a floating bridge to this popular shape.

Pickups do a lot to define a guitar, and the vintage voiced Schecter Super Rock pickups very much give the PT Van Nuys a Les Paul voice. But the longer scale and bolt-on neck makes them more spanky and even a little twangy. To continue that analogy...maybe more SG than Les Paul. And while they are called "Super Rock" they are the vintage-voiced versions, and slot in very much in the '59/PAF style. They have a moderate output, clean treble response, and no trace of muddiness or pronounced midrange bump. Early humbucking pickups were pretty lean and clean, as are the Van Nuys pickups. As such they sound great clean, but also excel at mildly crunchy and classic rock/blues overdrive. We usually don't get pumped over split humbuckers, and the position 2 and 4 splits are down on output and not that inspiring. But we feel that way about most split humbuckers, and the core tone of the Van Nuys pickups are so enticing that you are not missing much by skipping over the split positions.

To top off the Tele/Gibson mash up, the PT Van Nuys sports a two-post vibrato bridge with machined saddles. Even if you don't use a vibrato bridge much, the Schecter system is stable enough that you won't be pining for a hard tail. And the addition of locking tuners is a nice touch and adds an extra measure of tuning stability.

The Schecter PT Van Nuys is another excellent example of how much value and features Schecter packs into a guitar costing under a grand. The PT Van Nuys looks and plays like a guitar costing much more. And while modding an import guitar with fancy parts is a popular hobby, the Van Nuys needs nothing to be a great tool for working players and enthusiasts.
