Schecter USA Sunset Extreme 6 2025 Stabilized Top Electric Guitar w/OHSC

From the Schecter Custom Shop in Sun Valley California comes this rare Sunset Extreme (one of 6 from a recent run) While impressive on looks alone this, it's not just wall art. With best of materials, Schecter USA pickups, and  impeccable workmanship the Sunset Extreme is meant to be played. 

The Schecter Sunset Extreme features a lightweight Swamp Ash body (6.8 pounds) and that crazy Burl top. With its multi-ply Maple/Walnut neck it’s remarkably lively and highly resonant. The contoured body is very comfortable and the slim profile neck expertly finished. Other than a quick tune, the factory setup is spot-on

Equipped with a set of Schecter USA Brimstone pickups, one might assume that this guitar is for metal heads only. But tone hounds should not pooh-pooh ceramic magnet pickups. While valued for their efficiency, ceramic magnets pickups also can possess excellent clarity, note separation and can be high output without the sonic downsides of overwinding the pickup. And that is what the Brimstones do: They are punchy, strong, but also have a very even response, and excellent clarity. Clean tones are nicely percussive but have a top end that is not sharp or metallic. And like other ceramic pickups we have tried, they don't get muddy when turned down and they split pretty well too, especially at the neck and neck + middle combinations. 

But with just a single volume control, it's implied that this guitar is not for soft rock. Plugged into our JAM Rattler pedal the Brimstone pickups put out spectacular crunch that is best describes as linear. The flat response of the pickups translates into wonderfully detailed crunch that is even across the spectrum with no hot spots or harsh peaks. Both the neck and bridge pickups remain tight and focused, even at very high gain levels. Aided by the sleek neck and expert fretwork, the Sunset Extreme is an experience.

At this price point, you would expect this to be very nice guitar, and on looks alone it does not disappoint. But the versatility and tonal range of the Sunset Extreme took us by surprise, and we were expecting a guitar heavily biased towards heavy tones only. But we found the Schecter Sunset Extreme to be a remarkably capable athlete ready to tackle any musical challenge.
