Takamine EF341SC Gloss Black Cutaway Dreadnought Acoustic w/Hardshell Case *Authorized Dealer*

The glossy black Takamine dreadnought has been a fixture on performance stages for over three decades, and Takamine has been a pioneer of quality amplified acoustics since the late 70's. Part of Takamine's professional series, the EF341SC is not your typical dreadnought. While Spruce and Mahogany (or Rosewood) are the traditional materials for a dreadnought, the EF341SC sports a unique combination of a Cedar top and Maple back and sides. The Cedar top adds warmth, complexity and touch sensitivity, and the Maple back and sides gives it a quicker response and great projection. If you want the volume of a dreadnought but don't dig the mid-heavy emphasis most of them have, the EF341SC will impress you with it's clear detailed voice and big sound.

As we said earlier, Takamine made a name for itself as a leader in quality acoustic guitar electronics. And the EF341SC includes their CT-4BII electronics with their "Palathetic" bridge transducer. In Takamine's own words, the Palathetic pickup is not your usual under-saddle piezo:

"Using six individually shielded piezo-electric elements, one for each string, the Palathetic pickup is not a just a UST (under-saddle pickup). In fact the Takamine design employs twelve times the element mass of the typical under-saddle pickup. The six elements penetrate the bridge plate, soundboard and bridge to make direct contact with the saddle creating a sonic linkage with the string. The pickup casing is mechanically attached to the guitar's top and bridge creating a sonic linkage with the soundboard. The result of this design is a signal that possesses the articulation of an isolated string signal and the rich harmonic content delivered by the resonating soundboard for a full, complete and accurate acoustic guitar tone at high sound pressure levels."

And we can say in practice it really works. The CT-4BII system and Palathetic pickup has strong output, excellent sonic detail and none of the "crackle and quack" often endemic with under saddle piezo systems. The EF341SC is a great combination of sensitivity and projection, and combined with excellent electronics -- and a super easy battery change -- the EF31SC is a great performance package for serious enthusiasts and professionals alike.
