Sometimes really good things come from what was clearly a marketing scheme to sell more product. The Fender Pawn Shop Series was best known for their mash-up guitars (sort of Fender's own Partscasters); but there were also Pawn Amps, which featured kitschy 50's-60's styling to evoke the idea of finding some old amp in a Pawn Shop. 

But along the way Fender intentionally or accidentally made a great sounding amp in the form of the Fender Vaporizer. What makes it good is that it's incredibly basic: Three knobs, twelve watts and two 10" speakers. The two speakers and wide cabinet provides plenty of low end, depth and detail. And the uncomplicated circuit lets the natural tone of the guitar shine. We've got other used Fender used amps in the shop, but the Vaporizer is a happy accident that sounds more natural and open than the typical Hot Rod/Deville/Blues combo. And it's also not crushingly loud.

The Jetson's styling makes it a conversation piece, but the tone makes it a keeper.
