USED Juan Reinier da Montagne Natural 1969 Classical Acoustic Guitar - No Bag/Case

Sometimes you never know what's going to walk in the door. In this case it's a rare late 60's craftsman-built classical....

This 1969 Juan Reinier da Montagne Classical guitar was made in Holland by Jan van de Heuvel, who used the trade name Juan Renier da Montagne. How it got to the US is anybody's guess, but van de Heuvel spent his entire career building mainly high quality Classical guitars but also other types of historic stringed instruments. This guitar features a solid Cedar top and solid Rosewood back and sides with an Ebony fretboard. The neck is Mahogany and like many old school classical guitars there is no truss rod. Action at the 12th fret is about .150, which is high but not out of the question for a traditional classical guitar. The saddle has room to shave down for a little lower action.

For a 50+ year old guitar it's in very good shape, with two areas that would benefit from repair. Their is a top crack below the bridge (see photo) and there is also a crack in the ebony fretboard (see photo). The fretboard could be filled with ebony powder and finished, while the top crack is a normal cleat-type repair. We can do the repairs, but that's not priced into the guitar. This came to us with no bag or case, and would suggest at least a gig bag for shipping purposes.

Old Cedar and Rosewood has an unmistakable ring and richness that only comes with time. With a little TLC this guitar will live on for the next several decades.
