Reverend Charger Cleancut Iconic Blue 2026 Electric Guitar - No Bag/Case

They say that insanity is doing the same thing over and over and expecting a different result. The Reverend Cleancut is not the same old thing and features Reverend's slightly offset shape, bass contour control and their unique Cleancut pickups. Simultaneously modern and retro, the Charger Cleancut offers hum-free performance with the bite and clarity of a good P-90 for a guitar that can handle anything from Country to Classic Rock. 

The Charger Cleancut takes the Reverend single cut DNA and dresses it up with white body binding and a "backsprayed" pickguard that gives the guitar an elegant look. The six stainless saddle bridge is a string-thru design anchored in an aluminum string block for better sustain. The roasted maple neck has a nice dark rosewood 12" radius fretboard and 22 medium jumbo frets. For their bolt-on guitars Reverend's Medium Oval measures approximately .830" at the first fret and .880 at the 12th. It feels very much like an American Fender slim profile, or as we like to remember it G&L's Modern Classic. As with any Reverend we've ever had our hands on the fretwork is neat and even, it has a triple string tree to assure even nut pressure, and locking tuners.

The Reverend Railhammer Cleancut pickups are a hum cancelling design that uses a Ceramic magnet for strong attack and clarity, while also being touch sensitive and responsive to playing style. They remind us somewhat of the G&L MFD pickup in that the mids are slightly scooped and there is plenty of note definition both at the low and high end. The Railhammer pole arrangement is also said to help in this manner and we're inclined to agree.  It's a humbucker pickup that has the attitude of a fat single coil, but leaner than a P-90. The neck pickup can easily handle both leads and percussive rhythm without getting muddy. And the bridge pickup has plenty of jangle and twang but can drive pedals well for roots or indie rock. 

The tonal versatility of the Cleancut is ably assisted by Reverend's bass contour control. While inspection reveals that it's just a simple high pass filter the results are impressive. It's gradual, musical and when rolling off the bass it never feels as though the sound is getting "weaker" just leaner and more defined. It works great with either pickup position, and for own tastes we not sure we'd ever have this control wide open (at least at the neck). The internal wiring is tidy, using full-size Alpha pots, film capacitors, and shielding paint.

The Charger Cleancut embodies the classic Reverend styling and top-notch workmanship in a fresh updated package. Combined with the novel Cleancut pickups and smart controls it offers everything from gutsy blues leads to country pick'in.
