Reverend Charger H90 Midnight Black 2026 Electric Guitar - No Bag/Case

Founded in the 1990s, Reverend guitars have established themselves with original designs that are simultaneously modern and retro. Their distinctive shapes, pickups, and controls make them unique instruments that stand on their own merits. 

The new Charger H90 has the classic slightly Reverend look and features white binding and a "backsprayed" pickguard that gives the guitar an elegant touch. The six-saddle bridge is a string-thru design anchored in an aluminum string block for better sustain. The roasted maple neck has a nice dark rosewood fretboard and 22 medium jumbo frets. For the bolt-on guitars Reverend's Medium Oval measures approximately .830" at the first fret and .880 at the 12th. As with any Reverend we've ever had our hands on the fretwork is neat and even, there is a triple string tree to assure even nut pressure, and locking tuners.

The Steelhead pickups are a recent innovation that feature large steel pole pieces, as their name suggests. The noiseless P90-style model incorporates a "sidewinder" design, which uses two opposing coils positioned beside the pole pieces. While this design lacks the raw, loose character of classic vintage P90s, it still delivers the punchy, clean definition typical of a quality P90, along with quiet operation. The Steelhead humbucker combines Alnico V and ceramic magnets, offering a rich blend of Alnico's warmth and ceramic's clarity, attack, and touch sensitivity. Both pickups interact well with pedals, providing plenty of sparkle, complexity, and sensitivity to your picking.

Along the typical volume and tone control, the Reverend bass contour control is a standout feature. While inspection reveals that it's just a simple high pass filter the results are shockingly good. It's gradual, musical and never feels as though the sound is getting "weaker" just leaner and more defined. Used with the humbucker pickup vastly superior any coil split, and with the P90 a little bit of contour roll-off gives the P90 more of an old-school feel. For our own taste we not sure we'd ever have this control wide open. The internal wiring is tidy, using full-size Alpha pots, film capacitors, and shielding paint.

The Charger H90 embodies the classic Reverend styling and excellent workmanship in a fresh updated package. Combined with the new Steelhead pickups and smart controls it offers performance and style that makes it a remarkably versatile guitar.
