Reverend Dub King Sandstone 2026 Short Scale Semi-Hollow Electric Bass - No Bag/Case

The Reverend Dub King bass represents a fresh, innovative take on the short scale bass guitar, while remaining distinctly Reverend in character. Designed with a Spruce top and a chambered Korina back Dub King makes no apologies and can hold its own in any playing situation.

Typically, short scale bass guitars are viewed as either entry-level instruments—such as the Fender Mustang—or short on clarity and definition, like the Gibson EB series. The Dub King challenges these perceptions. Its chambered body and Spruce top deliver remarkable depth and fullness, surpassing expectations for shorter scale instruments. The Thick Brick pickups provide clear punchy tones, and despite the lower string tension common to short scale basses, the Dub King avoids the muddiness often associated with them. Unless you are exclusively a slap player, this bass offers plenty of snap, attack, and clarity suitable for a wide range of musical genres. With flatwound strings, the Dub King becomes an excellent choice for jazz and GB performances.

Reverend also gave thought to the control layout and instead of the typical P/J volume-volume-tone arrangement they added a more useful pickup balance control. One thing you can't do with most Fender two-pickup basses is turn it down with one knob. The Dub King gives you a Master Volume control, and a Pan control to vary the pickup balance. The Pan controls has a center detent to indicate that both pickups are on equally. It's a better mousetrap for the two-pickup passive bass. Rounding out the package is a hefty adjustable bridge with top-load or string-thru options and Hipshot tuners.

Some things are just easier on a short scale bass, but players have often avoided them because they lacked dynamics and clarity. The Dub King takes away any reason not to be playing a short scale bass.

This Reverend Dub King short scale bass features:

  • Body: Semi-Hollow Korina, Solid Spruce Top, 7.4 pounds

In the words of Reverend:

The Dub King produces the thick, deep tone you’d expect from a short scale neck and semi-hollow body. But unlike most basses of this type, it has excellent clarity and sustain thanks to the five-piece neck and high mass bridge. You can even solo the Split Brick neck pickup for super deep thump, and the split pole design keeps it focused.
