Reverend Kingbolt HH Ohana Blue 2026 Electric Guitar - No Bag/Case

The Reverend Kingbolt HH  is a lightweight double cutaway guitar featuring Reverends signature body styling, precision Wilkinson tremolo, versatile controls and their newly developed Steelhead humbucking pickups. More than just the typical HH guitar the Reverend Kingbolt HH can span a range of genres with ease.

Reverend guitars have long been admired for their unique designs and quality craftsmanship. The company, founded in the late 1990s by Joe Naylor, has earned a a loyal following among both enthusiasts and professional musicians. With distinctive shapes, pickups, and control layouts, Reverend instruments stand apart from typical guitar clones and are respected for their originality. Our own experience with Reverend dates back to our trusty 2004 Rumblefish bass, a reliable companion throughout countless gigs.

For many years all Reverend guitars were all bolt-on, and the Kingbolt follows that lineage with a nicely finished 6-bolt roasted maple neck with locking tuners and triple string tree. We measured the neck dimensions to be around .830" at the first fret and .880" at the 12th. While Reverend calls that "Medium Oval" it's very much in the range of a slim C profile found on American Fenders and similar guitars. It's topped off by a dark Rosewood fretboard and nicely finished medium jumbo frets

The Steelhead pickups are a recent innovation that as their name suggests feature large steel pole pieces. The Steelhead humbucker combines Alnico V and ceramic magnets, offering a rich blend of Alnico's warmth and ceramic's clarity and attack. It works particularly well in the neck position where the addition of the ceramic magnet add definition and keeps the wound strings from sounding muddy. With their medium output the Steelhead pickups interact well with pedals, providing plenty of sparkle, complexity, and sensitivity to picking styles.

Along the typical volume and tone control, the Reverend bass contour control is a standout feature. While inspection reveals that it's just a simple high pass filter the results are shockingly good. It's gradual, musical and never feels as though the sound is getting "weaker" just leaner and more defined. As it relates to humbucker pickups it's vastly more useful than any coil split, and if you are typically not a fan of neck humbuckers the bass contour will fix that. The contour control offers tremendous versatility, and for an HH guitar allows for lots of funky, snappy tones that would otherwise not be possible. The wiring is tidy, using full-size Alpha pots, film capacitors, and shielding paint.

The Kingbolt HH is classically Reverend, and its retro/modern styling will look at home on any stage. Paired with their new Steelhead pickups and smart control set it's a guitar to you can take to any gig with confidence
